Basketball Court Warming

WCHS 2010 Court Warming February 5, 2010

Marilyn and Jeannie have made this a really fun outing. Normally begins with dinner at the VFW 1000 on 24 Highway, then over to the school for the game and crowning of the King and Queen.

But, check this out, it is one time of year when us old folk can stand up and be applauded via teenagers for living long enough to come watch their game. Most of the time, unless they want money, they might not bother to even speak to us. If you want your moment of glory and the fun of watching a game - call Marilyn at (816) 796-8995 and get on her good list or for Truman folks call Jeannie at (816) 836-2786 (evenings 6-9 pm please.)

If you really want these two to be happy - when you call give them your Memory Book update information. How nice that would be for these two as calling every living classmate is not always the most pleasant of tasks.

WCHS 2009 Court Warming was February 13, 2009

Please join us this year. We are now old enough to get in free without even having to sneak in. What a difference 43 years makes.

WCHS 2008 Court Warming was February 8, 2008

This year we had seven folks eat with us at Cross' in Sugar Creek and then go to the game. Marilyn's Brother joined us and as we were entering he made the statement that he had not been in the gym in 47 years. How cool to be back!

While our group was smaller than we wanted, spouting off every once in awhile really paid off this year. At half-time, all WCHS alumni were asked to stand and be recognized. Very nice for us older folks to get a bit of recognition. Ricky and Joyce drove in from Harrisonville - they were our farthest away attendees for 2008.

Chrisman whooped up on Oak Park in a very thrilling boy's game. The girl's game had us in the lead until an Oak Park girl simply ran down Chrisman's center. The blow took our center out of game for quite a spell and when she came back in she was limping pretty badly. On that collision, no foul was called even though the Oak Park girl appeared to have meant harm. Chrisman girls played hard and were still in it until on a simple touch foul the ref called a deliberate foul and that was an instant 4 point spread the Chrisman girls could not recover from. Some things never change - especially officiating. The girls game was pretty pathetic in that respect. And, if two big games were not enough - it was Senior night and Court warming too.

You missed a fun night skipping this event. Maybe see you next year at Court Warming?

WCHS 2007

We had a grand total of seven classmates actually go to the game and observe the half-time ceremonies. We are so old, they let us in for free.

About 10 folks gathered at the VFW on 24 to eat before the game. Now that was some fine vittles and of course we had our own table to boot. Only problem, service was so slow that we were rushed to get to the game. But, on the up side we were not hungry.
