Karen Rogers is proud to announce the release of her first novel, Born in the Ashes. This work is her first to be published under the name Elisabeth Kaye, a compilation of Karen’s middle name and her daughter’s. Her daughter, Aimee Rogers Fluitt, edited and embellished Karen’s original work. Born in the Ashes is the story of a young woman named Emilia who loses a family member in the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Eager to escape from her sheltered life as the wife of a small-time Mafioso, Emilia seizes the opportunity to fake her death, assume someone else’s identity, and leave New York. With a job, new friends, and a new relationship with a federal prosecutor, she begins to build a life in a small town in Maine, only to have her husband eventually track her down.
