Hi!

----- REMINDER - CLASSES OF 65 SUMMER EVENT -----

Sunday, August 28, Classes of 65 potluck at McCoy Park Shelter House - the little one near the tennis courts. McCoy Park is on the south side of US 24 Highway across from the Truman Presidential Library.

Anticipating that this will be a rather warm day, we will not start to gather at the Shelter until 5:00ish pm. and begin eating around 5:30ish pm.

We still have plates, utensils, cups and napkins left over from our reunion. We will be providing ice, but please bring your own soft drinks.

Hard to believe it's almost a year since our 45th Reunion. While time flies at the speed of light, things still happen and yes, we want to know how YOU and yours are doing.

Please bring a covered dish with food in it to share. Deserts are Okay. LOL! If you want a table cloth, please bring your own.

If more than 25 show up, we will need you to bring lawn chairs with you. The concrete gets hard quickly! LOL!

This is a free event with the meat purchased using funds from our donation hat at previous events. We will have the donation hat out to gather funds to support the upcoming POWWOW!

Please bring your friendship, happy smile and your most positive attitude. Everyone needs that.

This is a City park, don't get caught drinking.

P.S. We are not telephoning folks for this event, so please

tell Classmates about it to help us improve the turnout.

Subject WCHS News About Me

Comments:

I did not graduate with the Class of '65. I was a member of the class for 6th, 7th & 8th grade and knew and was friends with a great many of both WCHS ant TRUMAN groups. I moved to Odessa, Mo where I graduated with that class of '65. I was formally adopted and changed last name from Williams to Betts around that time.....so many of you may remember me as Steve Williams or Steve Betts. I was surprised when a classmate, Jimmy Pescetto, showed up unexpectedly at my step-dad's funeral. He suggested that I stay in touch and contact this group. I am finally taking him up on that suggestion. If any of you remember me please feel free to contact me on facebook or email. I live in Birmingham, AL at present but make it back to visit family and friends frequently.

----- Pamela Simpson -----

Date: Sunday, July 17, 2011, 9:12 AM

I was astounded to see in the Star magazine this morning (Sunday supplement to the KC Star) a photograph marking the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Edgar Phillips and his bride. Edgar Phillips was my 8th Grade science teacher at Palmer Junior High and I suspect that I am not the only person to remember such a great teacher. His bride (her first name was Authorene) also taught at Palmer but I did not remember her. Perhaps others will. It is a great looking photo but could that really have been 50 years ago?

Peace and Love,

Pam Simpson

----- WCHS Hall of Fame -----

William Chrisman will induct nine into their Hall of Fame during halftime of the October 1st, Homecoming game. From our era, Mike Mattox, Class of 1962. President Harris S. Truman and First Lady Bess Truman represent the Class of 1901.

----- Our website got hacked! -----

For the moment, our website's capability to e-mail Class Reunion Coordinators for the individual classes is down and out. A Hacker felt the need to hack the script and use it to send out 5,000+ porn emails/hour. Naturally our web provider took exception. Hopefully, all will be up and running again by mid October. The rest of the site appears to be functional.

----- Marilyn and Jeannie and Bob's Birthday -----

Just a note as this is not an all Classes function, but for those who would like to join us this coming Friday at 7:00 pm, Knuckleheads Saloon, 2715 Rochester St., Kansas City, MO 64120,

Phone: 816-483-6407, we will be celebrating Marilyn and Jeannie's and maybe Bob's birthdays. Jeff Bergen is supposed to be singing Elvis songs from the 60's. There is a $6 cover charge/person. They sell some very good sandwiches and of course everything from soft drinks to the stiffest you can handle. We gave it a go last month, and the parking area is well lit and security obvious. So, come on down if you want to wish Marilyn and Jeannie and maybe Bob a happy birthday. Me, I am so pleased that we will all be the same age. Hate being the oldest in the crowd. Bob Bergin is no relation that I am aware of to Jeff Bergen. Bob Bergin is not high on Elvis like Marilyn. That is the reason for the "maybe!" We wish all three the happiest birthday EVER!!!

----- That's All Folks! -----

Hope to see you and chat with you at the August 28th Classes of 65 potluck picnic!
