Thank You's for 2008

Thanksgiving may have passed, but thanks goes to Marilyn and Jeannie for setting up the 2008 Court Warming, thanks goes to Randy Halsey for showing us what we need to bring to eat and drink at the Shakespear Festival, thanks goes to Randy Halsey for a great class cookout at his place, thanks goes to Grover and Jeannie Hall for setting up our car racing event which was rained out, thanks goes to Terry Thacker for setting up a fine time at the Rennaisance Festival, thanks goes for the Truman Chrisman Football game for being a bit warmer this year, thanks goes to Ron and Barb McMillian for the best ever Pow Wow III, and for the last class event for 2008 -- thanks goes to Marilyn Lewis and Jeannie Sympson for approving the Holiday event.


ANNOUNCING the Classes of 65 2008 Holiday Event:

Chrisman-Truman basketball game Downtown at Municipal Auditorium 12/20.

Many of you have already been asking when you can buy your tickets for the Chrisman-Truman basketball game at Rivalry Day at Municipal Auditorium. We just learned the following information: The tickets for the Chrisman - Truman boys basketball game are in the Activities Office. They may be purchased from this office throughout the day or at home basketball games during December. The game is scheduled for Saturday, December 20th at 6pm at Municipal Auditorium. Tickets are $5. You will have to have a ticket for admission to the arena.
Get yours early!!!!

Sylvia Johnston's Father:

Matthew Mitchell Johnston passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Mr. Johnston was a resident of Jackson County, MO for more than 84 years. Matthew was born June 9, 1921 in Hereford, TX. His parents were Matthew Almanzer Johnston and Isabelle Carley Johnston. Matthew�s parents moved to Missouri from Hereford in 1924. Matthew graduated from William Chrisman High School, Independence, MO in the Class of 1939. He also graduated from business college in Kansas City, MO and went to work for the Kansas City Southern Railway in Kansas City before going into the armed forces during World War II. Matthew served overseas for 28 months in the Army Air Corp during the North African and Italian Campaigns. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp in October of 1945. He then returned to his former job with the Kansas City Southern Railway where he met his beloved wife of 62 years, Evalyn D. Phillips. They were married June 2, 1946 at the First Christian Church in Independence. Matthew retired from the Kansas City Southern Railway in 1983 as Senior Assistant Vice President of Marketing. Matthew is survived by his wife Evalyn, daughter Sylvia Johnston Riley, and son Dana Mitchell Johnston. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Saturday, November 8 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, with services beginning at 11:00 AM; burial at Salem Cemetery.

Cheryl Strange's husband:

Charles E. Rogers, 63, of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Inurnment with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. There will be a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by family visitation from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House. Charles was born May 24, 1945 in Topeka, KS, to Charles E. and Frances Margaret (Downey) Rogers. He moved to Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1966 and later attended college in Springfield and William Jewel. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam. He worked as a truck driver for Kaw Transport and later was a realtor for Englewood Plaza Realty for a number of years. Charles was an Eagle Scout of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a Royal Order of Jester's Court 54, who will be conducting their ceremony at the memorial service. Charles was a fun loving man who enjoyed golf, fishing, boating and most of all riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cheryl of the home; his daughters, Christy Rogers of Independence, MO and Alicia Niccum, her husband Russ Niccum and 2 grandchildren, Jesse Niccum and Emily Niccum. of Cole Camp, MO; sisters, Kathleen Harris of Nebraska, Mary Alice Walsh of New Jersey and Vera Fullington of South Carolina.
