Columbia, MO ù

Don Chadwick of Independence has been named to 22nd class to be

inducted into the University of

Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame, the school announced

today.

Chadwick was one of the top two-way linemen of his era and was named

to the 1958 honorable

mention All-America team as a guard for the Tigers.

Chadwick and the five other honorees will be inducted Feb. 10 at the

Courtyard by Marriott in

Columbia. A reception will begin at 6 p.m. and the dinner will start

at 7 p.m.

Chadwick, who also played tackle and linebacker on defense, was

honored as an All-American by

the Associated Press and United Press International in 1958 after

helping lead the Tigers to

a 5-4-1 record in Dan Devine's first season as head coach. Chadwick,

who was chosen as team

captain, also earned first-team All-Big Eight honors that season and

was chosen to play in the

East-West Shrine All-Star Game. He also earned honorable mention

all-conference honors in

1956 and 1957.

Chadwick also had the distinction of playing for three College

Football Hall of Fame coaches

in three years - Don Faurot in 1956, Frank Broyles in 1957 and Devine

in 1958. Faurot picked

him for his lifetime All-Mizzou two-way team.

----- And we thought our teachers were tough -----

A school teacher injured his back and had to wear a plaster cast

around the upper part of his body.

It fit under his shirt and was not noticeable at all. On the first day

of the term, still with the

cast under his shirt, he found himself assigned to the toughest

students in school. Walking

confidently into the rowdy classroom, he opened the window as wide as

possible and then busied

himself with desk work. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he

took the desk stapler and

stapled the tie to his chest. He had no trouble with discipline that

term.

----- That's All For This e-mail -----

Hope all goes well with you and yours,

Cecil
