Othello Class Outing We had eight people attend and most if not all of those said they would like to go again next year. Price is right, shows well presented - in fact most excellent - and of course the actors speak in the King's English and with a tiny bit of focus - most understandable. Apparently the only true screw up for the 2008 Class outing was the idiot who thought it prudent to purchase food and drink on-site to help offset the free entry. Turns out that the donation cup is right at the front gate and although the amount one plops into the can is totally a thing of choice - something needs to fall into the cup to get a sticker which allows one to come and go. Not something to be taken lightly when one notes that all porta potties are outside the gate. Even worse is sitting there eating a six dollar brat when the chap next to you has brought tasty cuiescene and something nice to the taste buds for their beverage. The kids in front of us were chowing down on a carry-out pizza. So, next year, all will be encouraged to bring their on vittles and to donate wisely at the entrance. Before the end of this quarter - photos of this year's before show pictures will be posted on our website.

The Reunion Planning Committee has deemed Randy's event an official class(es) function and thus for those who wish to increase our outing slush fund - you may do so by dropping a donation into the hat which will be somewhere along the food line. For those generous folk who have Entertainment books and are not planning to go with Terry Thacker to the Renaissance Festival (See below) - dropping your coupon into the hat will be most highly appreciated by someone going to the festival on Sept 20th. It has been said before, but yet many do not understand that in the past all these things were mostly funded via pocket gifts from Planning Committee members. Now that ole' hat we have been using has given us a slush fund of slightly over $200 which is approaching adequate funding to support these little outings. So, that is the "why" of the donation hat. Now, know well for this cookout - Randy is personally providing the meat and softdrinks. To get to the bottom of what appears to be a contradiction in our hat thing -- one must remember that Dawn and Marilyn set Randy up for his surprise 60th birthday party last year by chit chatting lots and lots about a Randy cookout. Well that is history, but as we all know when Randy gets something fixed in his mind - it is going to happen sooner or later. So, our best response to this year's cookout is a simple, "Thank You, Randy!"Dirt Track Sprint Car Racing - people wanted something different so we are checking this out.
Saturday night, September 6, KC King of the Wings/WOW Sprints. For information from the Valley Speedway track call (913) 535-4499. This is a track special event and ticket prices are estimated to be around $15 each (May go up to $20 - check with Jeannie Hall closer to the date (816) 836-2786. On this one please RSVP to Jeannie. If there is enough interest we may well try to link up at an eatery prior to the races . Gates open at 4:00pm. Children 5 years and under are normally free. Racing begins at approximately 7:30 pm.The Renaissance Festival with Terry Thacker. The festival runs weekends between August 30 & Oct 13. The Chiefs are scheduled to be out of town Sep 20 and it is a Saturday. I also assume we're hoping for temperate weather. The weather on September 20 should be warm but not burning hot. As for a car pool meeting place, we will gather at the ATA Commuter Lot at 40 Highway & Blue Ridge Blvd at 9AM on September 20. We could also organize coupons at that point. NOTE: Entertainment 08 book page G88 is one Renaissance Festival buy one get one free coupon. A return time would necessarily need to be negotiated among the folks in the same car. For those wanting to eat breakfast together, please meet at Rosie's about 7:45 and we will try to sit close to each other. Rosie's is across 40 Highway from Cool Crest.
Looking forward to seeing all,
TerryPOW WOW IV Date is Saturday, October 25, 2008. There will be a sign up sheet for POW WOW IV at Randy's cook out or if you want to RSVP by calling Ron, his phone is (816) 699-2007. Also, if you are planning on staying over night this year - be sure to let Ron know in advance. A minimum of 10 folks staying over night is needed to justify all the extra winterized tee pee work to make this happen. Thank you for your cooperation. Pow Wow's are annual class functions and information on them can be viewed at http://www.tmes.biz/williamchrisman/classes/1965/000_pow_wow.htm
Whatever Happened To Linda Biggs?
I ended up in California after my divorce, my folks were there, my Dad was still stationed at Los Alamitos Naval Air Base. I was 6 months pregnant with our youngest daughter. I met Gene about a year after my divorce from Jim.
A former girlfriend of his who has married his best fiend was a neighbor of mine. They introduced us and two years later we were married. December 21st it will be 33 years. The rest as they say is history. Gene has been a great father to my kids and a wonderful husband. For 33 years he ran a camera store in Irvine, CA.
Actually my husband and I were tired of the rat race in CA and in 2005 we put our house on the market when the real estate market was still great and made a tidy profit on it. We were able to pay cash for our house in Washington, where our two oldest kids live with their families.
I miss our youngest daughter and her family who are still in CA. But I had the first 16 years with our oldest grand daughter and needed to get some time in with the other two. We have a 14 year old grand daughter and a sixteen year old grandson we are getting to know much better. Nick is a baseball player and was one of the first boys inducted into the Cooperstown Little League Hall of Fame a couple of years ago. We have JoAnna 3-4 days a week and are home schooling her.
Right now we are in Oregon heading down to CA for about 10-12 days to spend time with our kids. Our grand daughter from CA will be in Seattle a week from Friday for A High School Choir Competition. Her choir came in 2ND last year in Boston so we're hoping they will have a good showing this year also.
Gene and I are both photographers and we do quite a bit with the Olympia Camera Club.
We are looking forward to the Holidays this year as all of our kids will be here for Christmas this year and it will be at our oldest daughters new house that she and her husband have built on Lake St. Clair.
My latest adventure is putting some of my artistic abilities to work on handmade greeting cards. When I get enough stock made up I will start selling them on Ebay.
I Lost my Dad on September 16Th, 2007. He would have been 85 in October. He lead a good life fought in 3 Wars. We ad a full Military funeral for him and he would have been so proud.
Linda (Biggs) PardeePlease take a second to forward this e-mail to a couple or three classmates. Lots of folks change their e-mail addresses and then we lose them from our mailing list. The following link will let them or you sign them up for our e-mail list. Your cooperation is much appreciated. Click Here To Sign Up For e-mail List
