Subject WCHS News About Me

Comments I think I may have already updated this but, just in case, my current address is Racine, WI. I moved here in April 2008 to be closer to my sister Lea (WCHS Class of 1960) after my husband of 39 years, George Fisher (WCHS Class of 1964), died in 2006 in a swimming accident while we were on a sailing vacation in Greece. Since leaving Independence in 1970, George and I moved around a lot for various jobs in the telecom and technology industries. Over the years, we lived in Minneapolis (2 years while George went to graduate school), Washington DC (7 years), San Francisco (2 years), Washington DC again (6 years), Kansas City (9 years), Pittsburgh (1 year), Boston (10 years for me, 8 years for George). We had a wonderful life together full of fun and adventure. By choice we had no children. In 1997, George left an executive position with US Airways to form a consulting business -- The Fisher Group --that focused on sales, marketing and service consulting for multi-national technology companies. I left a Marketing VP position in 2000 to join the business which was thriving when he died. After that, I couldn't continue without him so I passed on the work to business associates and effectively closed the company in 2007. I have spent the past 3 1/2 years trying to recover from the loss of my life partner and best friend. I am now doing some consulting with tech CEOs in Chicago but mostly am volunteering and praying for my house to sell in Boston after nearly three years on the market. I look forward to seeing everyone in September. It's been a long time.

----- Terry Thacker -----

First, thank you, Terry Thacker, for sharing this information with the Classes of 1965 as many of our parents either fought in WWII or participated in war support activities. And, our local resident, President Harry S. Truman, gave the order that sent this plane into history and saved millions of lives in so doing.

Enola Gay to fly again this summer!!!

NASM Announces National Tour For Enola Gay Famous Airplane Will Fly Again, Thanks To Extensive, Secret Renovation The National Air and Space Museum made a surprising announcement Thursday. In honor of the 65th anniversary of the end of WWII, the NASM staff has been secretly preparing the B-29 Enola Gay to make her airworthy for a commemorative flight across the United States. The tour will begin in June and run through August.. After the tour, the plane will be disassembled into large pieces that will be shipped by a special train from the final tour stop back to the Udvar-Hazy Center , which is at Dulles Airport in Washington, DC. The announcement is being made to enable the war bird community as a whole to modify the air show schedule so that other WWII aircraft will be able to participate in the historic event.

This will be a one-way trip that will be long-remembered by the war bird and historical community.

------- Shakespeare -------

We got it right this year. Food we liked. Coolers with wheels so us old folk did not have to lug them in. Little tables. Tarps to put our chairs on. Great company. A little Blackberry wine was shared. The only complaint was that it was a tragedy as opposed to the prior year's comedy!

How troubled dear Shakespeare is to learn his tragedies sadden some - but not all. Off with their heads you swine!!!!

---------- Marvin Rogers ---------

As many already know, ever since the Bob Bergin, Jeanie Sympson Hall, and Marilyn Lewis Holsworth's 60th Birthday Party, a nucleus of classmates have become Bobby Simkins' groupies.

Recently Bobby Simkins participated in an "Elvis Bash" at the totally restored Uptown Theater on Broadway in Kansas City. We groupies showed up with bells on and were amazed at how beautiful

the restoration of the theater is. We chatted with some employees and they went on and on about how this one lady has done all the intricate plaster reconstruction to make the theater artistically correct for a specific time (Excuse my forgetting that date.) The place is a wall to wall and ceiling display of purely gorgeous art.

Last night at the reunion planning committee, Mike Kassen was telling us about how he had been in attendance at one of his brother's band performances at the Uptown. Mike too was very impressed with the place.

While Mike was standing there admiring the beauty, he was grabbed (Appropriately we were told.) from behind by none other than our classmate Marvin Rogers. Mike told Marvin how great the place looked and Marvin explained to Mike that it was he and his company that had painted all the white plaster to create the final look.

Well done, Marvin Rogers!!! Very well done indeed!

----- Melody Morgan Is Alive And Recovering Well -----

First, to Melody, my sincere apologies. Secondly, to my classmates who read these e-mails my apology and so you know how it all went down -- the following is the timeline description via e-mails:

Hi Cecil,

Wanted to let you know that Melody (Morgan) Skelton had a massive stroke about 2 days ago. She is doing better today, but don't know the prognosis. She is in ICU at the Centerpoint Medical Center. I am going to see her tonight, so will get back to you if I know more. Please spread the word to our Classmates, especially Jeannie!

Thanks!

Terry

Hi, Classmate!

Today is Sunday and there is no Examiner on Sunday or Monday, so I am simply forwarding to you the best information I have regarding Melody Morgan Skelton.

"Melody. Joyful Life, With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation." Isaiah 12:3.

(Included the two above e-mails.)

Wednesday, June 23, 2010 8:03 PM

Hi Cec!

Well, imagine my shock when I read your email that Melody had passed away! We saw her Friday nite and she was fine! I'm curious where Dee Ann got her info! Turns out she did not have a stroke but suffered an electrolyte imbalance which causes similar symptoms to a stroke. It took me awhile to finally reach Bob and get the scoop! She went home Sunday nite and is recovering nicely. So she is alive and well....but she is using a walker for the time being. So, pass this along and relieve everyone's mind!

Thanks!

Terry Stapleton

Hi, Classmate!

Please accept my apology for making a monumental error - matter of fact it was so bad it will never show up on our website and hopefully our all growing older will cause the very thought to evaporate into absolute nothingness.

Here is the latest on Melody Morgan and I am most happy that fact is better than fiction in this instance!

(Insert Terry White Stapleton's last e-mail above.)

The only thing I wish to add is thank you, thank you, thank you, Terry! And, thank all of you for sending me all those e-mails about how happy Melody is, how some dated her and/or wanted to, even had some compliments on how pretty Melody is and a remarkable number of folks who had and enjoyed having classes with Melody. With this good news you can share those nice thoughts with Melody at the reunion.

Okay - this ole' dog is shamed and out of here --

Happy Summer!

Cecil

And now, you know the rest of the story....

That's all folks!

Cecil
